This was a special event for Information and Communication Technologies and Digital Media Faculty and, this year, includes the Small Business Faculty from the California Community College system. We are setting up a great lineup of speakers and tracks to help you keep up with the ever changing world of digital media and business.

Digital Media and Business Fusion

The growing digitalization of communication using tools such as virtualization, the cloud, media production, mobile devices, service management and a focus on information management and collaboration depend heavily on visual communication techniques. Where once text and audio prevailed, now info graphics, video, animation and photos are the preferred medium for expressing ideas and presenting information.

Employment is a contract that carries certain social responsibilities. As digital media becomes integral in our business, social and political world it is important for students to have a solid grounding in the ethics for digital media. With digital all things are possible but because it can be done does not mean that it should be done. What are the boundaries of intellectual property? What are the ethics of presenting a marketing blog as a provider of news? Do the ends justify the means when trying to achieve political gains?

Teaching students the skills of telling stories, the importance of color, the use of sound and the organization needed to produce a 60 second news package, 60 minute television program or a feature length film develops important skills that can give them a distinct advantage in any career choice.
