The Interaction Design Bachelor of Science degree at Santa Monica College is one of the first baccalaureate degrees approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors. Part of a landmark pilot program, upper-division courses in the IxD Program will be offered in Fall 2016. In this presentation Jamie Cavanaugh, faculty leader for the new IxD Program, will share information on what interaction design is, the IxD degree curriculum, how it builds on the current A.S. degree in Graphic Design, and the future of UX/Interaction Design education.
Jamie Cavanaugh is an interaction designer, educator, and is Associate Professor of Interaction Design in the Graphic Design Program at Santa Monica College. Jamie is the faculty leader for the new Interaction Design Bachelor’s degree in the Design Technology Department at Santa Monica College. She teaches a range of topics including user experience, responsive web design, mobile and interaction design. Currently, Jamie is the Assistant Chair for the Design Technology Department. Prior to teaching at SMC, Jamie taught at Art Center College of Design.
